Michael Levy Photography
Final Resting Place
Part of the Reclaimed series, this classic from the 1950s is now part of a repository of car parts owned by a local couple. Many of the old vehicles end up as restoration projects (in whole or in part) for car enthusiasts all along the West Coast. Photographed with a 1954 Rolleiflex twin lens reflex camera on Ilford HP5 400 film.
Michael Levy’s fine art analog photographs are recorded on various film emulsions with cameras and lenses dating back as far as the 1930s. He custom prints each photograph on archival, 100% heavyweight cotton rag papers in his studio on Salt Spring Island.

Michael Levy’s introduction to the photographic process took place when he was a young man living with his family in Belgium. He enrolled in a basic black and white darkroom course and processed and printed his first roll of film in 1984. He works in both digital and analog photography and has focused primarily on nature, wildlife and landscape photography, using only natural light. After publishing three successful coffee table books about Salt Spring, he is now redirecting his work to focus on fine art.
