How to care for beeswax wraps

Beeswax wrap care and cleaning

Artcraft is proud to feature Salt Spring Island Beeswax Wraps, which are designed to have as little impact on the environment as possible. Made with 100% organic cotton, beeswax and tree resin, they can be cut into strips and composted at the end of their life. With a little care, you can use and re-use your wraps for up to a year before that end comes.

Tips for extending your wraps’ life is to keep them away from heat sources like stoves and microwaves – and even sunny windows – so the wax doesn’t melt; use cool water for washing; and to naturally air dry them afterward.

Washing instructions

Step 1: Turn your taps to produce water that’s cool but not cold, making sure to test that it’s not too warm. Give the wraps an initial rinse.

Step 2: Gently scrub wraps if there is any food residue, using a little eco-friendly dish soap. You can use your hand or a scrubby, as long as you don’t get too rough. Gentle cleaning is best.

Step 3: Dry your wraps naturally by draping them over a drying rack or a stand. Make sure to avoid heat sources.

Beeswax wraps can be folded after they’re washed and dried, and stored however is most convenient to you, whether that’s in a drawer or in a special container or box.
