Policy Update: January 19, 2020

Environment

Artcraft is committed to preserving the delicate ecosystems that make our island home unique, and whose natural beauty has inspired generations of artists. We strive to maintain a small ecological footprint and are equally committed to the health of our planet as a whole.

Artcraft uses 100% recycled paper packaging as our first choice, including tissue paper, gift boxes, mailing boxes and envelope mailers when possible. Our paper-based logo stickers and thank you cards are printed by Vistaprint, a Canadian company that is certified by The Forest Stewardship Council. Ninety-five % of the paper they print on is certified to the highest standard of responsible forestry.

We hope that our packaging material will be reused, recycled or composted at the end of its life and aim to have 100% of our packaging recyclable or compostable.

In some cases, such as with fragile ceramic goods, we currently use plastic bubble wrap for shipping. In British Columbia, bubble wrap is accepted at recycling depots under the flexible plastic packaging category. We are working to eliminate all plastic packaging use within the year.
