The Salt Spring Printmakers Society is a small local arts organization that is truly finding its feet -- and its heart -- after a decade of development.
The society started as a sub-group of the Salt Spring Painters Guild, with members who were interested in printmaking managing to acquire and store one mini press at the Guild's ArtSpring headquarters.

The Printmakers group grew by holding an annual exhibition for several years, but has really come into its own since the opening of community arts and recreation space at the former Salt Spring Middle School.
The group, by now established as a full society, has a large classroom with kitchen facilities as its dedicated studio and an entire row of presses, among other equipment. Membership brings low-cost access to studio days and discounts on workshops by local and visiting experts, such as one coming up in May on Tetrapak Etching. (Using would-be waste products as printing materials is a major theme for the group, which hosted the community-wide art show in all mediums called Re-Imagined at ArtSpring.)

Some of the Printmakers are also some of our most established and long-serving Artcraft participants, such as Johanna Hoskins and Suzanne Prendergast. You can find some of Suzanne's limited editions prints in our online shop under Art & Collectibles.
