What is Artcraft?

Artcraft is an annual, juried exhibit and retail gallery showcasing the work of over 100 local artists from the Southern Gulf Islands. It is the largest and longest-running exhibition of its kind in British Columbia.

When and where does Artcraft take place?

Artcraft takes place seasonally at Mahon Hall on Salt Spring Island:


  • Summer Season: June to mid-September
  • Winter Season: Four weeks leading up to Christmas

Dates for 2025 are June 6 to Sept 21, and Nov. 21 to Dec 24.

Who organizes Artcraft?

Artcraft is a program of Salt Spring Arts, a non-profit organization supporting arts and culture in the Southern Gulf Islands.

How long has Artcraft been running?

Artcraft (Summer) has operated since 1968, and the Winter edition (formerly the Christmas Guilds Sale, later WinterCraft) has been managed by Salt Spring Arts since 1996.

Who can participate as an artist in Artcraft?

To be eligible for the summer exhibition, artists must:


  • Be juried into the show
  • Reside and create work in the Southern Gulf Islands
  • Or be a regional Indigenous artist with ancestral ties to the Southern Gulf Islands
Is Artcraft juried?

Yes. All artists participating in the summer exhibition go through a juried selection process to ensure quality and authenticity.

What kinds of art is featured at Artcraft?

Artcraft features a wide range of work, including but not limited to:
