Showcase artist Margaret August gets elevated platform
CN Tower exhibit opens this spring
Artcraft Showcase artist Margaret August will see their work reach new heights this spring as part of an exciting new installation at Toronto’s CN Tower.
Perched 113 storeys above the city, Artmosphere is an immersive, interactive art showcase that’s taken over the Lower Observation Level. As information from the CN Tower states, Artmosphere’s expansive, state-of-the-art video walls feature animated visual representations of original works by a collective of Canadian artists, including Indigenous artists from across the country. Margaret is part of Artmosphere’s spring rotation (currently the winter program is in effect).
Margaret August is a Two-Spirited, Coast Salish artist from shíshálh Nation, born in 1983 in the traditional unceded Lkwungen and W̱ SÁNEĆ territories, now referred to as Victoria B.C. Their work is inspired by their traditional teachings and encounters with nature. At the CN Tower they will be sharing Raven Speak, which is based on the trickster figure known amongst the coastal Indigenous people in the Pacific Northwest coast. Margaret notes Ravens have the ability to travel between earth and the spirit world and act as messengers for ceremonial magic.
Artcraft is proud to have recognized Margaret’s work with a 2025 Showcase exhibition – our first ever solo Indigenous show. And we are excited to see how our collaborations will arise again in the future!
